Objective Corresponding Standards
1)Students will understand the history of movement in artwork by watching this slideshow:First grade wind paintings
2) Students will understand the process of resist by using crayons first, then water based markers and water to create the resist technique
3) Students will be inspired by historical works of art that depict wind
(students also study wind in G&T before this)

StepsWatch slide show (5 minutes) First grade wind paintingsWatch teacher demonstration of resist using crayons and water based markers that are then brushed with water to “make” a paint layer (5 minutes)Students work with crayons first ( 20 minutes)Students receive markers, then water with a brush to create the resist technique ( 10 minutes)Cleanup ( 5 minutes) 
Assessment Informal standard/objective checklist
Hallway  ExhibitionStudents will exhibit one project per year in the hallway
Differentiation -Some students will need extra time-Some students need help understanding “resist” and will need one on one demonstration
